Inter-lingual Youth Forum

India currently speaks 780 languages out of which 22 are recognized as official language, but in the last 50 years an alarming 250 languages were completely lost. This situation has further worsened due to reasons such as Globalisation, Migration, Ignorance, etc. This situation has also created a space for the natives of one language to hate the other in the name of protection and to show supremacy of one’s own language. Also this has been further fueled by regionalism and regional politics, as our states were divided prominently on linguistic based. This situation has created a fear of being alienated in one’s own land and has led to disintegration of communities.

For forging a better integration of communities this forum aims to assist youth to:

1. Recognise and respect languages and linguistic identities;

2. Appreciate individualities of languages

3. Promote inter-lingual dialogue for enhanced human relations
